A wonderful example of a historic Nantucket house. During the late 1700's, when Nantucket was the capital of the world whaling industry, ship captains often owned houses up the hill from the harbor. These were larger houses, with two windows on either side of the front door, and often also with a symmetrical staircase. Photo © copyright by Jim Waterbury.
